Nicola Gillen is an International Partner at Cushman & Wakefield, a global commercial real estate services firm. She specialises in the relationship between design, behaviour & the built environment. An architect and author, Nicola is widely recognised within the industry as a leading authority on workplace strategy, design and change management. Based in London, Nicola draws from 25 years’ experience delivering workplace strategy and innovation internationally. Nicola works with global corporations, investors and developers across the UK, Europe and internationally. She is co author of ReThink Design Guide; Architecture for a Post Pandemic World 2025 (RIBA March 2021) and lead author of Future Office (RIBA March 2019) and a visiting lecturer at the IE School of Architecture and Design, Madrid.

Dr Juriaan van Meel is Co-founder of BriefBuilder. He is an expert in the field of architectural briefing and workplace design. He has worked on building projects across the world and taught at various universities. Juriaan is (co)author of multiple books, amongst which the Activity-Based Working Practice Guide (2020), Briefing for Buildings (2018) and Workplaces Today (2015).

Simeon Siegel is a partner at the Turett Collaborative Architects.  Immediately after earning a B.A. at Columbia University in Architecture and Music, Seigel started working at TCA, where he project-managed retail, food service and corporate work. During a six-year hiatus he earned his Master of Architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design where he was named both a Thayer Scholar and a Lehman Scholar. He was awarded the AIA Henry Adams Medal, and graduated with Distinction, and as valedictorian, in 2002.

Chiara de Rege established her Manhattan based design firm Chiara de Rege Interiors, in 2010. She is recognized for creating an impressive range of residential and commercial interiors. Chiara brings a detail-oriented focus to every aspect of her projects. She enjoys working with different aesthetics and tailors her designs to create consistently unique environments. Her portfolio includes work ranging from a celebrity’s home in the Hollywood Hills, to corporate offices in New York city and Los Angeles, to an all women’s membership club, and retail stores. Chiara de Rege has clients across the U.S., including California, Connecticut, New York, and Washington, D.C. Her work has been featured in such publications as AD, Elle Decor, InStyle,Town & Country and Vogue, Wallpaper.

Hans Toft Hornemann and Terkel Skou Steffensen are co-founders of Aspekt Office, a Copenhagen-based multidisciplinary design studio, specializing in furniture, product and interior design. Sharing a passion for drawing and design since they were young, Hornemann and Steffensen started up a small company together while attending the same university in their hometown of Aalborg. After a few years apart to complete their respective master's degrees and work for international brands like HAY and Normann, among others, they reunited in Copenhagen and founded Aspekt Office in 2018. In constant and open dialogue with the client, the studio’s works evolve around experiment and function with a curious approach, creating intuitive design and spaces people are comfortable with. With an eye on the past, Aspekt Office brings a fresh take to tradition, a twist of spontaneous creativity mixed with their industrial design background. 

The Office Architecture Essay Competition will be run in partnership with ARCHHIVE BOOKS, and is part of an annual competition series in which participants are tasked with exploring the work environment.
