5 key facts about this project
01
Constructed with a minimal footprint of 500 square meters to enhance lakeside views.
02
Vertical design promotes dedicated spaces for creativity and contemplation across four levels.
03
Generous use of glass facilitates uninterrupted visual access to the natural surroundings.
04
Integrated sustainable materials, including concrete and wood, ensure durability and harmony with nature.
05
Private zoning effectively separates communal areas from personal study spaces.
The Lakeside House is an architectural project located in Kota Baru Parahyangan, designed as a writer's retreat. Covering an area of 500 square meters, this four-storey tower house is distinctly oriented to capture western views of the adjacent lake, thereby enhancing its connection to the natural landscape. The design serves dual functions; it provides a private living space while also promoting creativity through its thoughtful spatial organization and light-filled interiors.

The architectural layout emphasizes verticality, allowing the house to integrate harmoniously into its surroundings without overwhelming them. The primary intent behind the form is to encourage a deep engagement with nature, maximizing light and space for contemplative activities. Additionally, the careful selection of materials reflects a sustainable ethos while offering a minimalist aesthetic that aligns with the project’s purpose.

Unique Spatial Organization
The Lakeside House stands out due to its innovative spatial arrangement distributed over four distinct levels, with each floor catering to a different function. The first floor is dedicated to communal spaces such as the living room and dining area, facilitating social interaction and gathering. This open layout encourages fluid movement, making it conducive for both informal gatherings and concentrated work sessions.

The second and third floors focus on privacy, accommodating bedrooms and personal study areas. These spaces are specifically designed to minimize distractions, oriented away from public zones and taking advantage of quieter views. The top floor serves as the master bedroom, enhancing spatial segregation while allowing for direct interaction with the serene landscape.

Sustainable Material Choices
Materiality reflects a careful consideration of sustainability and durability. Concrete serves as the primary structural element, ensuring a robust foundation while allowing for a minimalist aesthetic. Expansive glass panels are incorporated throughout to facilitate natural light ingress, creating a dynamic indoor environment where the external views play a crucial role in daily life. Wood is utilized for flooring and selected furnishings, infusing warmth into the otherwise stark material palette and adding comfort essential for a retreat space.

The use of metal in architectural details enhances durability while adding a contemporary dimension to the overall design. The combination of these materials promotes a cohesive architectural language that balances the house with its natural setting.

For a more comprehensive understanding of The Lakeside House, including architectural plans and sections, as well as detailed design ideas, readers are encouraged to explore the project presentation further.
