Uphold Berlin Mix is an endeavor that brings together residential and commercial spaces in the heart of Berlin. It reflects the city’s rich history as a hub of cultural diversity. The project aims to create a vibrant community atmosphere by integrating living areas with amenities for work and leisure, resulting in a functional and accessible urban environment.

Concept and Spatial Arrangement

The design emphasizes a mix of different uses to encourage social interaction among residents. The layout is organized to include residential units alongside various commercial spaces like cafes, shops, and studios for artists. This close proximity allows residents to easily fulfill their daily needs on foot, enhancing the appeal of a walkable urban lifestyle.

Modular Design Approach

A key feature of the project is its modular design. This approach enables flexibility in how the living spaces are configured. By using modular units, the layout can adapt to the changing needs of the community. The arrangement can be modified to create different types of housing, ensuring that the design remains relevant as demographics shift over time.

Community Engagement and Amenities

The project seeks to foster community engagement by incorporating shared spaces and facilities. Neighborhood amenities are integrated into the design, promoting interaction among residents and benefiting the wider community as well. This approach encourages a strong sense of belonging and supports local economic activity.

Materiality and Sustainability

Materials used in the design focus on sustainability and compatibility with the surrounding environment. Steel, timber panels, concrete frames, and masonry panels have been selected for their durability and aesthetic qualities. These materials allow for a sturdy structure while aligning with the architectural style found throughout Berlin.

Balconies and green roofs provide residents with outdoor spaces that enhance their living experience, promoting a connection between nature and urban life.
