The Seine Living project addresses the need for affordable housing in Paris, a city affected by rising tourism and foreign ownership. Positioned above the River Seine, the design aims to create elevated living spaces that reduce flood risks while enhancing links between urban life and the river. The project emphasizes both public and private areas, focusing on accessibility and community engagement.

Architectural Concept

Inspired by the Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile, the design features a series of arches that create spatial connections and facilitate movement. These arches function not only as structural supports for the housing units but also as visual elements that connect the river to the city. An elevated platform supported by two rows of steel arches preserves views of the River Seine. The design also includes shaded public spaces that encourage social interaction and leisure activities.

Functional Integration

The project utilizes the previously unused space above the river’s pedestrian path, transforming it into livable residential units. The arches extend to quay level, where they provide places for boats, enhancing the riverfront’s usability. This design choice fosters interaction between residents and the water, emphasizing a relationship with the river environment. Additionally, the project incorporates public amenities and semi-private lobbies, promoting community interaction and accessibility.

Terrace and Community Areas

Upper-level terraces serve as shared spaces where residents can convene, engage in activities, or relax while taking in the views of the River Seine and Paris. These outdoor areas are essential to the residential experience, nurturing community bonds and enhancing the overall livability of the development.
