The Omuli Museum of the Horse is located in a rural area and serves as a center for education and community engagement centered around equine culture. The design involves repurposing an existing school building into a modern hotel, combining elements of history with contemporary needs. The overarching concept focuses on experiential learning, enabling visitors to participate not only through exhibitions but also through hands-on activities in stables and horse riding areas.

Design Integration

The layout of the museum is organized around a central pathway that connects the museum and stables. This arrangement allows for an easy flow for visitors as they explore various learning environments. The design emphasizes the importance of both formal education in the museum and informal experiences in the stables. This balance enhances the overall educational aim of the facility.

Artist Village Concept

An important aspect of the design is the inclusion of "The Village," which brings artists together in a shared living and working space. This unique layout fosters collaboration and community among the artists, allowing them to engage with one another while contributing to the local cultural scene. The village setting supports the educational focus of the museum and creates a lively environment for creativity.

Enhancement of Visitor Experience

Included in the design is a secluded sauna, situated further east on the site to provide a space for relaxation and reflection. This serene area allows guests to find balance amid their activities. It highlights the importance of well-being within an educational setting. The thoughtful placement of this feature adds to the overall experience for visitors.

The design reflects a modern interpretation of the original school structure, likely using materials that connect the past with the present. This careful consideration ensures that the building retains its historical significance while accommodating current needs. The approach results in a functional space where education and community intersect effectively.
