Perforated Panels and Double-Glazing Envelop a Multifunctional Urban Hub

Project in-detail

Incorporating perforated panels and double-glazing, the design creates an energy-efficient façade that enhances natural ventilation while serving as a multifunctional urban hub for retail and community interactions.
5 key facts about this project
01
Integrates green terraces with native plants to support local biodiversity.
02
Utilizes double-glazed glass for enhanced energy efficiency and natural lighting.
03
Features perforated Corian panels for thermal regulation and airflow.
04
Aligns with prevailing winds to maximize passive ventilation throughout the building.
05
Accommodates varied communal spaces, including a gym, crèche, and banquet halls.
The Redevelopment of Urban Centre in Pune encompasses a comprehensive architectural project aimed at revitalizing the triangular site located in a busy commercial area. This high-rise structure reaches a height of 34 storeys, utilizing a total built-up area of approximately 60,000 square meters. The design facilitates a blend of residential, retail, and office spaces, promoting an environment conducive to both work and social interaction.

The project serves multiple functions, housing retail shops, dining areas, financial institutions, and recreational facilities, creating a multifunctional urban hub. The intention is to foster community engagement while integrating modern architectural practices. With careful consideration to the local context, the design pays homage to Pune’s historical significance, particularly referencing King Shivaji, an emblematic figure, through its form and silhouette.

Sustainable Design Practices
The architecture employs unique sustainability measures, such as double-glazed glass and solar shading film. These materials enhance energy efficiency while allowing ample natural light penetration. The aluminum frames used in conjunction with the glass façade contribute to a lightweight structure that minimizes energy usage. The inclusion of perforated Corian panels aids in thermal regulation, allowing for improved airflow throughout the building.

The internal planning features communal spaces, including a gym, crèche, and banquet halls, effectively addressing the needs of the local community. This multifunctional approach sets the project apart from typical high-rise developments by emphasizing human interaction and social connectivity through design.

Landscape and Integration
The project incorporates landscaped green terraces, employing native plant species to support local biodiversity. This integration of greenery is designed not only for aesthetic appeal but also to enhance the microclimate within the urban context. The careful alignment of the building takes advantage of natural light and prevailing winds, contributing to thermal comfort and reducing reliance on mechanical systems.

Overall, the Urban Centre in Pune represents a synthesis of modern architectural trends and community-focused design. By engaging with the local heritage and creating multifunctional spaces, this project stands out as a forward-thinking addition to the city's urban fabric.
