5 key facts about this project
01
Designed with a unique stone flooring that enhances sensory experience.
02
Incorporates panoramic views that connect occupants to the natural environment.
03
Features dedicated creative spaces with flexible configurations for artistic needs.
04
Reflects cultural identity through the integration of local architectural elements.
05
Emphasizes interaction between solitude and community within the design.

The design incorporates a thoughtful relationship between art and space, serving as a platform for creative expression. The FRAME is both a physical structure and a conceptual space where artists can engage with their work. The environment is crafted to enhance the artistic process, reflecting cultural and environmental influences. The intent is to create an inviting and functional area for collaboration and exploration.

Social Human Axis

The Social Human Axis explores the interplay between two distinct cultures: the artist’s own and Latvian culture. This aspect shapes the architectural experience to embrace individuality while fostering a spirit of community. The design reflects the need for belonging and connection, offering a space where artistic identities can thrive collectively.

Natural Geographic Axis

The Natural Geographic Axis positions the project within its natural surroundings, contrasting dense forests with wide-open lakes. This relationship is visually expressed through panoramic imagery, drawing attention to the beauty of the landscape. The design encourages interaction with the environment, reinforcing the connection between the built space and nature. It highlights how the site’s characteristics influence user experiences.

Sacral Axis

The Sacral Axis adds an additional layer of meaning, addressing themes of spirituality and connection to the universe. This axis is represented metaphorically, for example, through a periscope, which serves as a visual link to the larger cosmos. This approach invites contemplation and reflection, encouraging occupants to engage with deeper existential questions within the physical space.

Functional areas are purposefully designed to support the needs of artists. The Public Space features unique stone flooring, enhancing sensory engagement. The Kitchen and Living Room areas are designed with flexibility in mind, allowing for everyday activities while providing opportunities for personal expression. Dedicated Creative Spaces can be customized, offering artists the ability to adjust their environment as needed. Each design choice contributes to a dynamic atmosphere conducive to creativity.

Attention to these details creates a robust relationship between the FRAME and its landscape. The interaction of light and texture enhances the experience, fostering a setting where creativity can flourish in both personal and collective ways. The design ultimately aims to create an environment that supports artistic endeavors through a carefully considered balance of space and context.
