This architectural endeavor creates a multifunctional space for reading, workshops, and art exhibitions, encouraging users to forge connections with both the art and each other. By integrating movable modules and dynamic spaces, the project promotes interaction, flexibility, and adaptability, addressing the evolving needs of its users.

Unique Modular Design for User Engagement
The Instant Museum distinguishes itself through its modular design approach, which facilitates a range of activities within a single cohesive structure. The use of lightweight plastic and CNC milled wood allows for easy reconfiguration, catering to diverse community needs and preferences. Each module serves dedicated functions, such as reading areas, display zones, and informal gathering spots. This versatility enables the space to transform based on the activities planned, encouraging varied uses and user involvement.

The project’s layout promotes an inclusive atmosphere. Ample circulation space ensures accessibility for all users, while a focus on adaptable elements allows the building to respond to seasonal changes and specific events. This design fosters a community-centric environment, allowing individuals and families to engage with art and literature in a relaxed and open setting.

Functionality and Materiality
The Instant Museum emphasizes functionality through its strategic material choices. The combination of painted wood for library shelves and plastic laminated surfaces creates a durable, user-friendly environment. Each material is selected not only for its aesthetic qualities but also for its ability to withstand daily wear and tear in a public setting. This thoughtful approach to materiality ensures that the space remains inviting and practical, enhancing the visitor experience.

The architectural design integrates various elements, such as reading rooms, exhibition spaces, and interactive zones, into a cohesive whole. This creates a seamless flow of movement through the building, allowing users to transition effortlessly between activities. The overall design is a direct response to contemporary needs in architectural planning, emphasizing social interaction, learning, and creativity within a museum context.

For those interested in delving deeper into the Instant Museum project, exploring the architectural plans, architectural sections, and architectural designs will provide a comprehensive understanding of its innovative ideas and unique approach. Engaging with these details will enhance appreciation for how the project serves its community while redefining the museum experience.

Competition organisers

The Buildner’s Unbuilt Award 2025 is an international architecture competition dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the value of unrealized architectural designs. It invites architects, designers, and students worldwide to submit visionary projects that have not yet been constructed, highlighting the power of ideas and the creativity behind the design process. By focusing on unbuilt work, the competition aims to bring forward concepts that shape the future of architecture and push the boundaries of the profession.

Participants can compete in three categories based on project scale: Small Wonders (up to 100 m²), Medium Marvels (101–999 m²), and Large Visions (over 1,000 m²).
