REPLAY is an architectural project located in Cesis, Latvia, designed to serve as a cultural hub focused on the theme of memory and sound. The project encompasses multiple interconnected spaces, including a Museum of Forgotten Sounds, a vinyl hub, performance areas, cafes, and residential units. Its design seeks to foster a community atmosphere while engaging visitors with historical references and contemporary artistic expression.

The architectural layout incorporates a series of functional spaces that cater to various activities, promoting interaction and collaboration. The main components include:

1. **Museum of Forgotten Sounds**: This area is dedicated to exploring the auditory history of the region, featuring installations that allow visitors to engage with sounds from the past. This unique aspect encourages a reflective experience and emphasizes the significance of sound in cultural memory.

2. **Mango Vinyl Hub**: As a central feature, the vinyl hub serves as a creative workspace for record enthusiasts, offering workshops that blend traditional and modern music production techniques. This facility connects the artistic community with educational opportunities and fosters a deeper appreciation for music culture.

3. **Performance Spaces**: The project includes outdoor venues designed for concerts and summer cinema screenings, creating an environment for social gatherings. These spaces are adaptable, allowing for diverse events throughout the year and enhancing community engagement.

The unique design of REPLAY distinguishes it from typical cultural facilities by emphasizing a strong narrative around sound and memory. The integration of a variety of spaces encourages visitors to explore their relationships with past and present experiences. The architectural choices, including the use of brick, concrete, and wood, reflect a balance of durability and warmth, aligning with the project’s intent to create a welcoming environment. This attention to materiality supports both structural integrity and aesthetic comfort.

Incorporating elements that enable social interaction while preserving historical context, the overall design promotes a seamless blend of different functions. The spatial organization anticipates movement, creating pathways that guide visitors through the various activities, from quiet reflection within the museum to vibrant social interactions in outdoor settings.

REPLAY stands out due to its emphasis on mixed-use design, where community spaces coexist with residential units. This approach supports a lifestyle anchored in cultural engagement while ensuring accessibility for both visitors and locals. The design uplifts local culture by integrating artistic elements, such as vinyl graffiti, throughout the project, further emphasizing its commitment to community identity.
