Dynamic 3D Modeling Creating Interactive Zones in Virtual Community Spaces

Project in-detail

Low-poly geometric forms in vibrant hues create an immersive digital living experience through interactive zones, redefining communal spaces within the virtual landscape.
5 key facts about this project
01
Low-poly Voronoi pattern enhances visual complexity and structure.
02
Interactive trigger zones modify environments in real time.
03
Color palette includes pink, blue, and green for emotional effect.
04
Designed specifically for use within Decentraland's virtual landscape.
05
Twelve distinct zones balance communal living and personal space.

Voronoi is a conceptual design tailored for the virtual landscape of Decentraland. The project introduces a virtual-looped residency that explores the idea of digital living in new ways. The design emphasizes a unique approach to space, color, and interaction. By challenging traditional concepts of orientation, gravity, and scale, Voronoi creates an environment that encourages immersive experiences within a digital framework.

Architectural Concept

At the heart of Voronoi is the manipulation of important factors that shape the virtual environment. The design utilizes a low-poly Voronoi pattern generated through parametric 3D modeling, which creates a visually interesting mixture of forms. This choice allows for spaces that are not only visually appealing but also functional, catering to diverse user experiences. Voronoi brings together aesthetics and utility in a distinctive way.

Spatial Organization

The layout of Voronoi is thoughtfully organized into specific areas that support different activities. Public spaces, such as the living room, are designed to promote social interaction. Semi-public areas like the mining farm balance community engagement with personal activities. Private spaces, including the NFT vault, provide secure storage for digital assets. Each zone contributes to a broader notion of living together, while still accommodating the needs for privacy and individuality.

User Interaction

Engagement is a key focus in the design of Voronoi, supported by interactive zones that react to user movements. As people navigate through the space, these zones create changing visual environments that enhance the experience. This interactivity invites users to explore and engage with their surroundings, making Voronoi a place for discovery and creativity within the virtual world.

Color and Atmosphere

Throughout Voronoi, a color palette of pink, blue, and green shapes the atmosphere. These colors work together to create a calming environment, setting a peaceful tone within the digital space. The selection of hues enriches the overall experience, encouraging users to connect with the virtual setting. In this soothing oasis, the design fosters a relaxed interaction amid the complexities of digital life.

The integration of surfaces and the thoughtful arrangement of spaces draw users in, allowing them to sense the nuances of motion and interaction in a carefully designed virtual setting.

MICROHOME 10: Celebrating Small-Scale Living with €100,000 Prize Fund and Kingspan’s Innovation

`
Competition organisers

The MICROHOME 10 competition invites participants to submit visionary designs for off-grid, modular microhomes that push the limits of sustainable, small-scale living. Organised by Buildner in partnership with Kingspan and Hapi Homes, this tenth edition sets the challenge of designing a dwelling for two people within a maximum floor area of 25 m², encouraging bold solutions adaptable to any urban or rural location. The competition continues Buildner’s mission to foster innovative approaches to compact, energy-efficient housing that can address pressing global challenges.

This year’s edition offers a generous total prize fund of €100,000, including the Kingspan Award for designs that integrate high-performance Kingspan products and the Hapi Homes Award for a project selected for real-world construction. In addition to cash prizes, the winners gain international exposure through Buildner’s media partnerships, publications, and a dedicated MICROHOME magazine, further amplifying their ideas to the wider architectural community.

Key dates for MICROHOME 10 include the closing date for registration on 25 September 2025, the submission deadline on 29 October 2025 (11:59 p.m. London time), and the announcement of winners on 9 December 2025. These milestones ensure participants have clear timelines to develop and present their concepts, with early registration discounts available to support students and emerging designers worldwide.
