The Monte D'Oiro Wine Tasting Room stands within the scenic landscape of Portugal's vineyards. Serving as a venue for wine tasting and a site for production, the building emphasizes the rich traditions of winemaking while ensuring harmony with the environment. The overall design focuses on clarity and simplicity, allowing the structure to blend into the surrounding nature.

Form and Geometry

The design utilizes a quadrangular shape, guiding attention toward the existing vineyards. This straightforward form is functional and enhances the experience of the space. The building acts as a visual marker in the landscape, reinforcing the importance of the vineyard and wine culture in the area.



Spatial Organization

The interior layout is carefully designed to balance areas for public interaction and private functions. The entrance is wide and inviting, gradually narrowing as visitors approach the tasting area. This transition encourages engagement with both the architecture and the expansive views of the vineyards, immersing patrons in the experience.



Materiality

Materials chosen for the project reflect the traditions of winemaking. Darkened oak planks are used for the construction and facades, creating a connection to the vineyard’s history. In addition, recycled wood forms the interior walls, painted white to create contrast and maintain an airy feel within the space.



Connection to Landscape

The building is elevated, providing broad views over the surrounding vineyards. This positioning enhances the experience of wine tasting, allowing guests to engage with the natural beauty of the area. Such design promotes a connection between the environment and the visitors, enriching their appreciation of the region’s wine culture.



Large glass windows are incorporated into the wooden façade, allowing natural light to fill the interior while also framing the views outside. This design element strengthens the connection between the inside and outside, ensuring that the natural landscape is an integral part of the overall experience.
