### Project Overview
Situated in the Icelandic landscape, "In the Center of the Hearth" explores the concept of retreat through a series of interconnected circular forms. The design prioritizes unity, shelter, and human interaction while accommodating the functional needs of a public facility aimed at visitors seeking rest and recreation. The integration of these spaces with the surrounding environment enhances the overall user experience.

### Spatial Arrangement and Functionality
The project's spatial configuration consists of multiple circular volumes, each designated for specific uses. The **Info Point** serves as the primary entry pavilion, offering technology and information while protecting visitors from the elements. The **Hearth**, positioned in the center, acts as a communal gathering area fostering social connectivity, equipped with amenities for refreshments. Additionally, a **Changing Room** is located at a lower elevation, designed for privacy and accessibility to outdoor areas. This arrangement facilitates smooth navigation between spaces, ensuring a harmonious coexistence of functions and engaging transitions that enhance visitor interactions.

### Materiality and Sustainability
Materials were selected for their aesthetic appeal, sustainability, and practical functionality, reflecting local construction practices while respecting the environment. **Corrugated metal cladding** provides structural stability and reflects the rugged landscape, while **polycarbonate panels** facilitate natural light infiltration. **Wood** is extensively used in interiors, adding warmth and insulation, and **concrete** is strategically incorporated for foundational elements necessary in the volcanic context. This selection represents a commitment to environmental sensitivity, aligning with Iceland's geothermal characteristics to promote energy efficiency and minimal ecological footprint.
