The "Songs of Amber Columbarium" is a memorial space located in the Forest Cemetery of Riga, Latvia. Conceptual Framework

At the heart of the design is the vesica piscis, a shape often associated with fertility and new beginnings. This form inspires the design of the Amber Memory Hall, which features two gentle shells that lean towards each other. This configuration creates a feeling of embrace while still allowing interaction with nature. The architecture invites quiet reflection and connection, blending the indoor and outdoor spaces.

Spatial Organization

Visitors enter the columbarium through a series of paths that guide them on a journey of remembrance. Some pathways run underground, offering an immersive experience. Water features accompany these paths, as narrow streams flow alongside and within the space, enhancing tranquility. The sound of flowing water contributes to a meditative atmosphere, aligning with the purpose of the memorial.

Niche Design and Materiality

The columbarium includes five hundred niches, each designed to echo the natural beauty of amber. These niches allow families to honor their loved ones by placing personal items within them.
