Sevince Bayrak is an architect, writer and co-founder of SO?, a studio working on architecture and urbanism, based in Istanbul. SO? was a finalist for The Architectural Review Emerging Architecture Awards 2019. She has a book published about the evolution of squares and urban landscape in Istanbul, titled “Bir meydan öyküsü, Beyazıt”, adapted from her PhD research, in 2019. She was the author of the cover story of National Geographic TR’s December 2019 issue, titled “Istanbul 2100”.

Brian Gaudio is CEO of the Pittsburgh-based Module Housing, a design-build company that builds right-sized, energy efficient houses using prefab construction. Prior to starting Module, Brian was a Fulbright Scholar in Santiago, Dominican Republic, where he led an urban design research initiative.

Anne Cecilie Haug is the director of staffing, senior architect, and member of the research and innovation team at the Oslo office of Snøhetta. Her completed projects with Snøhetta include the Fuglemyrhytta and Tungestølen wooden cabin projects, as well as several hospitality projects with small units and micro-homes.

Thomas Heyer is Lead Designer of Cover Technologies. Cover’s mission is to make living in a thoughtfully designed and well-built home a reality for everyone. From Cover’s website: “A world where Cover has succeeded is a world where everyone lives in thoughtfully designed and well-built homes that are tailored to each person and property. Where homes are inspiring, functional, and enhance their environment, not consume its resources. A world where the spaces we inhabit improve our lives.”

Sheri Koones is a widely respected author who helps readers understand that getting the house of their dreams can be done in an ecologically responsible way. Her books explore the variety, beauty and eco-friendly benefits of prefab homes. Her latest Book Prefabulous Small Houses shows not only how beautiful and efficient prefab houses can be but also the advantages of building small.  She hopes to inspire homers to consider the most efficient and eco friendly methods of building their homes.

Francesca Perani is an architect and designer. Her work ranges from interior architecture to interactive design, from illustration to activism. In 2007 she established Francesca Perani Enterprise, an award winning studio she runs based in Bergamo, Italy. Material and visual experimentation, trial and error, emotional and communicative charge finds its expression in spaces, objects and graphics. The practice is driven by the power of shared creativity as an effective instrument to bring about change. She is also co-founder and curator of activist project RebelArchitette advocating for equality in Architecture through the open dissemination of 1000 female role models. And she is the founder of cutoutmix: an internationally popular free open platform as an answer to the growing need for more equal and diverse cutouts populating design renders.

Carlo Ratti is Director of the research initiative MIT Senseable City Lab, which works with industry partners, metropolitan governments, individual citizens and disadvantaged communities to develop and deploy tools to learn about cities. He also runs CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati - an international design and innovation office based in Turin, Italy, with branches in New York City and London.

Patrik Schumacher is company director and senior designer at Zaha Hadid Architects. His completed projects with ZHA include the MAXXI Centre of Contemporary Art and Architecture in Rome, which won the Stirling Prize in 2010, and one of the practice’s first completed constructions, the Vitra Fire Station.

Christina Seilern established London-based creative practice Studio Seilern Architects in 2006. Applying her unique style across a range of building typologies, geographies and scales she re-engages in an approach that carefully addresses each project from an in-depth consideration of the detail to the overall massing strategy. She tackles a range of projects from large scale city master plans, down to the more intricate scale of furniture and light fitting design, both the emerging and developed markets. 

The fourth annual MICROHOME architecture competition is part of Buildner’ Small Scale Architecture Appreciation Movement showcasing small projects that contain big ideas, as well as its Affordable Housing series with ARCHHIVE BOOKS, showcasing projects that invent new means for driving down housing prices.
