5 key facts about this project
The Monte d'Oiro winery combines the experiences of nature and winemaking, located in a scenic area surrounded by its vineyards. The design focuses on enhancing how visitors engage with this agricultural process. By creating a thoughtful journey from grape growing to wine tasting, the project emphasizes the relationship between the environment and the products of the land.
Conceptual Framework
The design invites visitors to explore a narrative that begins with the vineyards, showcasing the importance of soil and climate in grape cultivation. By leading guests through various stages of the winemaking process, the layout allows them to learn about each aspect of production. It culminates in the Wine and Wine Tasting Room, where visitors can experience the fruits of their journey.
Spatial Organization
Different areas have been designated for specific activities, making it easy for visitors to navigate the space. Outdoor areas provide the opportunity for events that connect people to the landscape. The use of large sliding doors creates an open atmosphere that merges indoor and outdoor experiences, enhancing the connection to the vineyard.
Materiality and Construction
The selection of materials responds to the local environment, with features such as wooden beams, fixed aluminum windows, terracotta roof tiles, granulated cork, and stone tiles. These elements not only fulfill practical needs but also contribute to a cohesive aesthetic that ties the winery to its setting. The materials reflect traditional building practices while considering modern sustainability requirements.
Design Features
A key element is the staircase, which serves as both a functional and symbolic connection between different spaces. This feature encourages exploration and movement within the winery, enriching the overall visitor experience. Natural light enters through carefully positioned openings, illuminating the spaces and enhancing the learning process.
The design concludes with a well-integrated relationship between architecture and landscape. Clear sight lines frame views of the vineyards, allowing visitors to appreciate the connection between the built environment and the land that produces the wine.
