The Emotional Park Skyscraper is located in the center of Hong Kong's bay, designed as a space for emotional release in a bustling urban area. It aims to address the common issue of emotional imbalance by providing a sanctuary where individuals can explore and express their feelings. The design integrates various levels to promote emotional engagement through physical interaction, creating a unique response to mental health within an urban context.

Experiential Design

The structure is divided into three main sections. The lower floors serve as the entry point, welcoming visitors into the park with an accessible and inviting layout. This initial area encourages exploration, setting the stage for deeper engagement as users move upward. The middle floors focus on harmony, offering interactive experiences that help individuals better understand and express their emotions.

Spherical Emotional Zones

A prominent feature of the Emotional Park is its track, which combines roller coaster paths with spherical areas dedicated to different emotions. Each sphere corresponds to feelings such as anger, sadness, joy, and tranquility, allowing visitors to actively navigate their emotional landscape. This design encourages physical movement and emotional exploration, fostering a meaningful connection between the user and their feelings.

Multi-Modal Access

Accessibility is a key consideration in the design. Visitors have multiple options for reaching the park, including a tunnel beneath the bay, a dedicated metro line, and boats. This thoughtful planning ensures that the park is approachable for both local residents and international guests, reinforcing its role as a community space for various audiences.

Interior Atmosphere

Inside, the building features abstract forms that create a rich atmosphere aligned with the emotional themes throughout the space. The design encourages reflection and emotional processing, inviting individuals to engage with their feelings in an intentional way. This blend of architecture and emotional engagement fosters a conversation about the connection between mental health and urban design.

The Emotional Park Skyscraper serves not only as a physical space but also as an exploration of how architecture can influence personal experiences within a city.

The Next House: USA — A Global Call to Reimagine the American Suburb

`
Competition organisers

Buildner is launching The Next House: USA, a global architecture competition that challenges architects, designers, and thinkers to reimagine the American suburban home for the 21st century. For decades, the suburban house has symbolized comfort and stability, but today it often reflects excess, isolation, and environmental strain. This competition asks: how can the American home evolve to address climate urgency, economic pressures, and shifting social values?

Participants are tasked with designing a prototype home of no more than 1,500 sq ft (≈140 m²) for a household of two adults and one child. The design should be compact yet generous, adaptable, sustainable, affordable, and replicable across diverse U.S. contexts. More than a design exercise, the competition aims to spark a conversation about how homes can support healthier, smarter, and more connected communities.

The total prize fund is $20,000 USD. The final registration deadline is May 20, 2026, and winners will be announced on September 22, 2026. The Next House: USA invites architects, students, and visionaries worldwide to redefine what the American home means today—and what it should mean tomorrow.
