Natural Forms Create Light-Filled Spaces With Cultural Privacy

Project in-detail

The design introduces a residential concept that focuses on the use of natural light throughout the home. It is situated in an area that encourages ecological awareness and sustainability. The overall aim is to create spaces that meet the needs of a diverse range of inhabitants, all while enhancing the connection between indoor and outdoor environments. The project takes inspiration from the metaphor of twelve hours, representing the daily activities and movements of its residents.

Design Concept and Spatial Layout

Natural light is the centerpiece of the design, influencing how each space is experienced. The layout is crafted to promote an easy flow of light and a sense of openness. Creating an atrium allows for a relationship between the inside and outside, while also embracing the changing daylight. This open design increases functionality while providing a calming atmosphere for the occupants.

Cultural Considerations and Privacy

Attention is given to cultural norms, especially regarding privacy in Chinese living contexts. The enclosed atrium protects residents while still promoting interaction. This thoughtful arrangement balances the need for community with individual privacy. Spaces are linked yet distinct, allowing for social engagement without sacrificing comfort or seclusion.

Sustainability and Material Form

The project uses natural forms for the building’s structure, which helps reduce environmental impact. These organic shapes not only enhance aesthetics but also maximize access to sunlight. The design shows a commitment to sustainability and respect for the setting, making decisions that benefit both the inhabitants and the ecosystem.

The floor plan includes essential living areas, such as an open kitchen, living room, and relaxation spaces. Each part of the design is carefully considered to ensure it serves the occupants well while promoting an inviting environment. The overall layout reflects an understanding of modern living—where comfort, functionality, and a connection to nature come together. The warm integration of these elements creates a home that resonates with its surroundings.
