La Coma: El Pulso Del Arte is a cultural hub that promotes community engagement and artistic expression. Located in a setting that values public interaction and sustainability, the design focuses on integrating the built environment with the landscape. The aim is to create a space where people can come together, share ideas, and connect with nature.

Form Dynamics

The design takes advantage of the site's natural contours to establish three separate zones that improve flow and accessibility. This arrangement allows individuals to move freely between different areas while maintaining a connection to the surroundings. The layout reflects a commitment to ecological sensitivity and showcases a balance between functionality and aesthetics.

Circulation and Zoning

At the heart of the design is a focus on circulation, characterized by thoughtfully planned pathways that connect key spaces. An open amphitheater serves as a central gathering area, helping to link the complex with the larger urban environment. Well-defined access routes lead to important locations such as the lobby and hostel, artist residence, meditation and yoga spaces, co-working areas, and an information center that also features a farming store.

Materiality and Topography

Materials such as concrete, steel, and local bricks have been chosen to ensure structural stability while promoting sustainability. The elevations of the buildings follow the contours of the land, creating a visual alignment with the natural surroundings. This method not only helps to preserve the ecological integrity of the site but also roots the project firmly within the existing urban context.

Sustainable Practices

The design supports sustainable farming initiatives, weaving agriculture into the community's cultural and educational landscape. The growing of olives, lavender, and tomatoes contributes to local biodiversity and offers educational opportunities that connect residents to their environment. This approach emphasizes a comprehensive understanding of sustainability, addressing ecological, social, and community aspects.

The information center serves as a key point of interaction between visitors and agricultural endeavors. It highlights the project’s dedication to community involvement and collaboration while enriching the relationship between people and their environment.
