The TILI Wine Italy Guest Homes project is located in the beautiful Umbrian countryside, designed to highlight the area's rich tradition of winemaking while providing a welcoming space for visitors. The overall design aims to create an environment that blends with its natural surroundings. By focusing on community and interaction, the layout incorporates both shared and private spaces, encouraging guests to engage with one another and the landscape.

Functional Program

The project includes several key components, such as a guest house, a degustation pavilion, a kitchen showcook area, an exterior degustation zone, a common area, and parking facilities. Each function serves to enhance the experience for guests, promoting engagement with local food and wine. The arrangement of spaces is intentional, encouraging visitors to connect with the local culture and each other while enjoying the serenity of the countryside.

Material Selection

One notable feature of the design is the use of large sheets of galvanized metal for the building's exterior. This choice provides necessary protection from environmental elements while complementing the rural setting. Leaving the metal unfinished allows it to develop a natural patina over time, which enhances the building’s character and aligns with its surroundings. The simplicity of this material highlights the project's honest approach to design.

Sustainability Practices

Sustainability is an important aspect of the design. The use of eco-friendly heating systems, a water collection system, and a photovoltaic energy system reflects a dedication to environmentally responsible practices. By incorporating vineyard renewal strategies, the project supports the local agricultural landscape and fosters a connection between the architecture and the surrounding vineyards. This focus on sustainable practices enriches the overall experience for visitors.

Structural Approach

The design carefully addresses structural integrity through the recovery of the main building. It stabilizes uneven foundations and repairs damaged masonry while retaining the historical significance of the site. Features like an aerated crawl space and reinforcing walls help to maintain the original character of the building with minimal changes to its external appearance. These efforts ensure that history and modern functionality coexist in harmony.

The design emphasizes a balance between social spaces and private retreats. Each area aims to invite guests to immerse themselves in the beauty of Umbria, both in community and solitude.
