Soul of Sansusi is centered around a lively festival environment where the food court acts as the main hub for community interaction. Located amid the festival's activities, this space is designed to facilitate social gatherings, allowing attendees to enjoy meals and experiences together. The concept draws on the idea of the food court as the heart of the festival, highlighting the importance of nourishment and connection among participants.

Central Element of Design

The inclusion of fire is a key feature, representing the soul of the festival. Positioned at the heart of the food court, the flickering flames create an atmosphere of warmth and comfort, inviting engagement from those nearby. This element symbolizes transformation, allowing for a lively setting that uplifts participants and encourages them to connect on a deeper level.

User Interaction and Spatial Dynamics

The design thoughtfully examines how user behavior relates to the act of burning firewood. Different configurations—including tables stacked with firewood, long supporters, and a see-through wall—are introduced to enhance interaction. As attendees use firewood, traditional barriers break down, promoting communication and collaboration among festival-goers. This evolution of space fosters a sense of community that strengthens as the festival unfolds.

Sustainability and Continuity

Sustainability plays an important role, ensuring that the impact of the festival lasts beyond its immediate presence. The design envisions that remnants like burned wood and leftover food can nourish new plants after the festival ends. This approach emphasizes an ecological responsibility that connects people to nature, allowing the spirit of the event to thrive in the environment long after attendees have departed.

Materials and Design Language

Materials referenced in the design include firewood and wooden boxes, which effectively express the project’s themes. These elements are straightforward yet impactful, reflecting an intention to bring together built and natural environments. The choice of materials reinforces the commitment to building community while being mindful of the surroundings.

The mix of fire and participant engagement creates an inviting space where the essence of the festival lingers, allowing memories and experiences to blossom alongside the natural landscape.
