5 key facts about this project
SOL at Tili Vini is located in the tranquil Umbrian Valley and serves as a space to connect with the agricultural heritage of the Tili Vini winery. The design emphasizes the relationship between architecture and the surrounding landscape, focusing on the experience of light as it changes throughout the day. This connection enhances the engagement of visitors with both the landscape and the winemaking process.
Orientation and Light
The design carefully considers the impact of sunlight on the spaces within. Guesthouses are oriented to the east, allowing morning sunlight to fill the interiors with warmth. Communal areas, including the wine tasting room, are positioned to the west, providing views of the sunset over the vineyard. This arrangement creates a natural flow of light and offers guests a chance to experience different effects of sunlight in relation to their surroundings.
Experiential Design Elements
Visitors are greeted with various experiences designed to enhance their connection to the environment. Large windows frame views of the landscape, merging indoor and outdoor spaces. Secluded courtyards serve as quiet areas for relaxation and social conversation. Landscaped pathways connect the guesthouses to communal spaces, encouraging exploration and fostering a sense of community among guests.
Materiality and Sustainability
Materials were chosen for their importance to the design and their environmental impact. Corten roof cladding offers a modern finish that aligns with local architectural traditions. Concrete is utilized in the foundations and outdoor areas, ensuring strength and durability while allowing for a smooth transition from the built environment to the natural landscape. These material choices ensure that the structures are well integrated into the winery's agricultural context.
Guesthouse Configuration
The layout promotes both privacy and openness. Each guesthouse is elevated and separated, allowing for individual experiences while maintaining a connection to the land. The sculptural quality of the structures maximizes natural light, creating inviting interiors while preserving views of the vineyard. The design draws attention to the scenic vistas framed by large windows, enhancing the relationship between the visitor and the surrounding environment.
