Gaudi La Coma Arte de La Nube is a proposed sustainable artist's residence and educational complex located in Huesca, Spain. The design draws inspiration from the architectural principles of Antoni Gaudi while addressing modern needs for sustainability, functionality, and community interaction. The project aims to integrate artistic expression with ecological awareness, creating a space that encourages creativity and collaboration among its users.

Architectural Concept

The design centers on the establishment of sculpting and collage workshops within the construction area. These workshops will play a dual role. During the building phase, they will allow for the creation of sculptural panels to be used in the structures. Once the project is finished, these spaces will continue to serve as training centers for sculpting, promoting artistic learning and engagement.

Symbolism and Aesthetics

A key element in the architectural philosophy is the cloud metaphor, which captures the relationship between the structures and the shadows they cast. This idea not only provides shade for visitors but also fosters an atmosphere conducive to collaboration and movement. The design takes cues from local architecture, notably referencing the church tower in La Puebla De Fantova, reinforcing the connection between the built environment and its cultural context.

Sustainability and Community Impact

Sustainability remains a vital aspect of the design, particularly in how it minimizes the need for imported decorative materials. On-site workshops will reduce reliance on external sources, lowering the overall carbon footprint. The complex includes spaces dedicated to showcasing local art and supporting sustainable olive farms, which serve both local and artistic communities, enhancing social and economic ties.

Facility Design and User Experience

The layout features a range of facilities that encourage creativity and participation. These include artist residences, a visitor center, co-working areas, and studios for painting and pottery. Spaces for social interaction are carefully designed to provide comfort and inspiration, enriching the experiences of those who visit. The warm atmosphere of La Puebla de Fantova is further enhanced by pathways that connect various functions, inviting exploration. Natural elements are woven into the design, reinforcing the relationship between the architecture and its surroundings.

The forms of the buildings reflect the contours of the local landscape. They utilize curves and organic shapes to create harmony with the environment. Each design detail aims to respect and enhance the natural character of the area, grounding the project in its unique location.
