Ceramic Brick Structure With Permeable Latticework for Wine Experience

Project in-detail

The use of ceramic brick and permeable latticework defines a structure that fosters interaction with its vineyard setting, creating an engaging space focused on wine experience.
5 key facts about this project
01
The structure incorporates ceramic bricks for thermal efficiency.
02
A walkway blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces.
03
Permeable latticework provides privacy while inviting natural light.
04
Cross-ventilation strategies enhance indoor air quality.
05
Design elements reflect traditional Italian architecture, such as barrel vaults.

The project integrates Italy’s winemaking traditions within a carefully designed structure that sits in the heart of the landscape. Located in a region known for its rich viticulture, the architecture aims to create a close relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces. The goal is to enhance the experience for visitors while promoting a strong connection to the environment. This design reflects the cultural importance of wine as well as the ecological features of the site.

Spatial Organization

The arrangement of spaces is designed to improve visitor flow and interaction. Public and private areas are placed strategically to accommodate various wine-related activities. The layout encourages exploration and fosters connections among people, the architecture, and the natural surroundings. Each space invites visitors to engage with the setting and participate in the winemaking experience.

Material Choices

Materials used in the structure are traditional yet applied in a contemporary way to fulfill visual and functional needs. Ceramic bricks are included for their ability to retain heat, and insulating XPS layers help enhance energy performance. Reinforced concrete provides structural support, while microcement finishes add a modern feel. These materials demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and respect for the regional environment.

Design Strategies

The design incorporates passive strategies to promote natural ventilation and maintain comfortable indoor conditions. Cross-ventilation is utilized to improve air quality. Permeable latticework in the walls offers privacy while still allowing visual connections with the landscape. This approach shows an awareness of environmental balance and the importance of placing the building in harmony with its surroundings.

The architectural features highlight Italian heritage, seen in elements like barrel vaults. These traditional aspects connect the design to the local identity. Large windows frame views of the vineyards, linking the interior space to the landscape. Such design choices ensure an enduring relationship between the building and its setting, inviting the outside in and enriching the overall experience.
