The design for the Sansusi festival is placed in a natural setting that highlights cultural celebration through innovative spaces. The main idea is to redefine the festival experience by creating areas that allow interaction, relaxation, and a connection to nature. By carefully studying the existing landscape and how people use it, the design encourages a harmonious relationship between human activities and the surrounding environment, fostering a unique communal vibe.

Modular Structure

The festival features a modular system that resembles Jenga blocks, arranged to achieve different heights and positions. This setup allows the space to adapt easily for various functions, serving not just as seating but also as tables and areas for performances. The flexibility of these modules is key to accommodating a range of activities, enabling smooth movement among visitors while creating intimate gathering spots.

Material Selection

Timber is the primary material used, chosen for its durability and natural beauty. The uniform heights of seating and tables help keep the layout organized and user-friendly. This choice of material emphasizes the project’s focus on sustainability, ensuring a minimal impact on the environment while aligning with the values of the festival and honoring the natural setting.

Community Interaction

The layout is designed to promote interaction among attendees through distinct spaces for socializing, dining, and relaxing. Various seating arrangements encourage movement and engagement, allowing festival-goers to navigate the area comfortably. Sound installations enhance the experience, adding an auditory backdrop that draws attention to the musical elements of the festival, creating an inviting atmosphere.

Natural Integration

Existing natural elements, such as cut tree stems, are creatively used as supports for new life, enhancing the overall experience. This innovative approach helps reinforce the connection between the built environment and nature. With the inclusion of multiple courtyards for gathering, the design maintains the ecological balance of the site, ensuring the festival remains welcoming while preserving the landscape’s integrity.

The layout encourages exploration, featuring flexible elements like double-sided lounges that adapt to various uses. This openness invites visitors to discover different areas, enriching their experience and fostering a sense of community.
