5 key facts about this project
The Silent Meditation Forest Cabins is a conceptual study for a series of retreat spaces, designed to support quiet reflection and meditation. Located away from urban activity, the proposal emphasizes a strong connection to nature, providing a calm setting for individual and group contemplation.
Geometry and Spatial Arrangement
The cabins are organized around geometric forms, primarily equilateral triangles, applied in both longitudinal and transverse orientations to enhance structural stability and visual balance. Sloped walls and precise angles create a harmonious relationship with the surrounding landscape. Interiors are arranged to accommodate meditation, personal reflection, and group activities, allowing flexible movement and varied experiences within each cabin. An outdoor work table extends the interior program, offering a space for creative engagement while maintaining the forest’s quiet atmosphere.
Materiality and Sustainability
Larch wood is the primary construction material, selected for its durability, warmth, and ability to integrate with the natural environment. Rock wool insulation and waterproof sheathing support thermal efficiency and weather protection. Renewable energy features include a small wind generator that powers minimal night lighting, reflecting the design’s attention to energy efficiency and environmental impact. The combination of material choices and sustainable strategies ensures both functional performance and environmental sensitivity within the forest setting.
