We’d like to take the opportunity to introduce you to one of our Honorable mention winner for our "Virtual Home" competition – Jack Dalgleish-Morel from Canada!
Jack Dalgleish-Morel from Canada
I have recently completed my Bachelor of Architectural Science at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). I look forward to completing a MArch in the near future once I have discovered a thesis that inspires me. I hope to spend the next few years working in the industry to find that inspiration.
I have completed many academic projects and competitions over the course of my undergraduate degree including residential projects, large-scale mixed-use projects, conceptual architectural projects, and furniture design. Currently, parametric design work and construction utilizing digital fabrication tools have been areas of interest for me.
To me, architecture is a manifestation of ideas and beliefs that have the ability to enhance people's quality of life. The role of the architect is to utilize their influence to enact positive change in the world at all scales.
Competitions are a way for me to sharpen my skills, develop new ones, and experiment. They also allow me to test my creative problem-solving skills through unconventional briefs I might otherwise not be exposed to.
Each competition you participate in will help you grow as a designer and improve your portfolio. Constant evolution and growth are something we should all be working towards.
