We’d like to take the opportunity to introduce you to one of our Honorable mention winners for our "Tili Wine Italy Guest Homes" competition – Shirley Levy from Israel!

Shirley Levy from Israel

I studied at Tel-Aviv University where I got my B.Arch in 2012 and M.A. in 2016. Since, completed my internship working at several different offices in Tel-Aviv. I have recently started working at a boutique firm, focused on private homes, which is a scale I personally like.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been involved?

Outside of work, I have participated in several architecture competitions. Projects that interest me the most are small to medium in scale, because they allow me to develop a theoretical concept and its manifestation in a unique context.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

To me, architecture has the ability to make us feel we are connected to a place, the place fits us and we fit in the place we inhabit. This feeling of connectedness is vital to human well-being.

Why do you participate in architecture competitions?

To express the creative side in me and challenge my own style and views on architecture.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?

Participation in architecture competitions is an opportunity for pure self-expression and a chance to inspire and be inspired.
