We are currently year 4 undergraduate students in China, majoring in architecture. Architecture for us is a discipline that integrates technology and art in creating spatial places with the spirit of the times and environmental characteristics.
Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been involved?
We have not been involved with any projects.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
Architecture is to connect space and people harmoniously. Buildings of all classes are given humanistic care by architects.
Why do you participate in architecture competitions?
While design assignments within schools often have a lot of rules and regulations, competitions allow us to maximize our whims. Participating in architecture competitions has helped us develop our passion for architectural design, so that we would not lose ourselves in rigid academic projects.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?
Any architecture competitions that you are interested in and can do to the best of your ability must be beneficial for you. The courage to sign up, the training of design ability and the improvement of presentation skills are all invaluable.
