We’d like to take the opportunity to introduce you to one of our Honorable mention winners for our "Tokyo Urban Meditation Cabins" competition – Simon Bonhomme and Alicia Mathevon from France!
Honorable mention winners from France
Alicia MATHEVON - Student at ENSAG (National Superior School of Architecture, Grenoble - France) Internship at MIAS Architects
Simon BONHOMME - Student at ENSAG (National Superior School of Architecture, Grenoble - France). Internship at Clément VERGELY Architects 1st prize « Cabins festival – Annecy ».
As master’s students, we were able to explore different scales of projects. The cabin competition was my first experience with small scale wood frame architecture. The construction of this project allowed me to explore it in further detail. The Contemplation Pavillion was an opportunity for us to deepen our approach into researching the details of a wooden city project. In a small space, every architectural element has a function and must be thought throught.
Architecture is an art that designs space. Its challenge is to awaken sensations and to respond to the functions of human life. This technical and poetic art guides individuals in their relationship with the environment, sky, air, light and earth.
Competitions are challenging and allow us to gain experience by playing with our creativity.
Competitions are a fun and challenging way to practice architecture.
