1st prize winners from Italy
We are students of Architecture at the University of Camerino, in Italy, currently we are working on the graduate thesis.
We have worked on all the architectural scales, from the territorial to the interior. What matters is that design is able to allude to all levels of reading that you aspire to, without one prevailing over the other. Because a building is never just a building.
A life is not enough to have a satisfactory answer to this question. But for the moment we can say that it seems that architecture very often has to do with the will to communicate something. It seems to us that it is always an act of communication. In these terms, the architect could be a sort of privileged witness and a responsible actor.
It would take a good psychologist to know. Something magical and fascinating happens during architectural competitions. Just think of two people who have never met, do not speak the same language, live in different places, at different times, and despite this they communicate with each other. We feel this powerful fascination and when we have something to say, we cannot resist the temptation to be part of it.
We do not feel in a position to give advice to anyone.
