Hayri Atak leads Hayri Atak Architectural Design Studio (HAADS). He is an architect, designer and instructor who conducts his works in several different scales such as environment, city, building and industrial design. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University department of Interior Architecture and studied architecture in Auburn University in part of his undergraduate education. He had the opportunity to participate in various workshops at Rural Studio. Afterwards, he completed his master’s degree in Istanbul Technical University “Facade Design and Technology” and then completed his “Hotel Design in Interior Architecture” education at Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA). In addition, he was awarded numerous awards in many competitions he participated in during his student period and professional business life. Hayri Atak who carries out workshops with different concepts in universities also participates in various courses as a guest lecturer and teaches at many different universities such as ITU, IMU, FSMVU. In addition to the aforementioned workshops he takes part as a jury member in many national and international competitions. He adopts concepts such as futurism and informatics in architecture and stands out with his modular and organic formed works in line with these sense of design. He closely follows many topics such as parametric design, prototyping techniques, robotics in architecture.

Jim Bissell is an Oscar-nominated production designer. In addition to creating action movie Skyscraper, Bissell previously worked on Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, in which Tom Cruise scaled the world's tallest building, Dubai's Burj Khalifa. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his work on George Clooney's 2005 historical drama “Good Night, and Good Luck”, and received a BAFTA nomination for production design on Steven Spielberg's "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial''. Bissell also worked on “Jumanji”, "Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind", "Leatherheads", "The Monuments Men", "Suburbicon", and "Midnight Sky".

Thomas Corbasson is an associate architect of the Paris-based agency Chartier+Corbasson Architectes. The agency was the winner of the ‘albums de la jeune architecture’ and received an honorable mention for the Mies van der Rohe Prize. More recently, The London Organic Skyscraper, the Picardy Chamber of Commerce and the winning project for the redevelopment of the Eiffel Tower site have opened up the agency to an international dimension.

Anastasia Elrouss is founder of Beirut-based ANA-Anastasia Elrouss Architects. She has upheld her main design philosophy since 2008: Architectural and urban thinking can never be stagnant. Her projects were awarded with the Iconic Award 2018, German Design Awards 2019, Design that Educates award 2019 & 2020, Architizer A+ Awards 2019, along with the second prize at the International Biennale of Architecture Krakow 2019.

Yury Grigoryan founded Meganom in 1998 together with Ilya Kuleshov, Alexandra Pavlova, and Pavel Ivanchikov. In 1991 he graduated from MARCHI Moscow Architectural Institute, where he is currently a professor. From 2011 until 2014 he was the director of education at the Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design. Besides leading Meganom, Grigoryan regularly gives lectures and participates in conferences, taking an active role in the architectural discourse of Moscow.

Benedikt Hartl leads the activistic architecture studio Opposite Office. Opposite Office draws, writes, imagines and builds architectural stories. The (opposite) office was founded in 2017 and  is located in Munich. It is engaged in the fields of architecture, society and its interfaces. Opposite Office is an award-winning studio which works between reality and fiction. It seeks to re-imagine and rethink architecture within its social and spatial mission. Opposite Office is a politically and socially engaged practice that tries to contribute to the questions and challenges of our society. Its work has been published and exhibited worldwide.

Samista Jugwanth is an Associate and shareholder at Zutari, which in 2020 was ranked first in the Top 225 International Design Firm Rankings for Africa by ENR. Samista has twelve years’ experience in engineering design (in public infrastructure, commercial and industrial projects), project management and construction management in Africa.  Samista strongly believes that for infrastructure development to be effective, designs should be human centred.  Design is not a linear process, but interactive and must be developed through engagement and inclusion of environmental, economic and social aspects.

Ilias Papageorgiou is a Greek architect and principal of PILA. He brings extensive experience from Europe and America, having led the design and realization of high profile cultural, commercial and residential projects around the world. Prior to founding PILA, Ilias was a partner at SO-IL in New York, collaborating with clients including MINI/BMW, Versace, Google, AirBnB, Frieze Art Fair, Manetti Shrem Museum at UC Davis, the Guggenheim Museum, and the New Museum in New York. Ilias’s work has been internationally recognized, having been awarded as a Curbed Groundbreaker, Architects under 50, Domes International Review of Architecture Awards, and the Young Greek Architects Awards. His work has been widely published and exhibited in institutions such as the Venice Architecture Biennale in Italy, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum in New York and the Benaki Museum in Athens. Ilias was born in Athens, Greece and studied architecture at Aristotle University in Thessaloniki and at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, with a scholarship from the Onassis Foundation. In addition to his practice, Ilias is a frequent lecturer and panelist at leading design institutions. Ilias is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture and Planning, and has previously taught at Tulane University and University of Thessaly. He co- authored solid objectives: order, edge, aura, published by Lars Müller Publishers and was an Ideas City Fellow, a platform for urbanism organized by the New Museum.

Kourosh Salehi is MENA Design Director at LWK + PARTNERS. He is a British architect, urbanist and educator with over 25 years of international experience in the UK, Asia and the Middle East. He has led the design process for a number of urban skylines in cities like London, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Doha: his last completed tower design being the “Habtoor City Towers” in Dubai. His latest bridge design “Hanging Garden Bridge” for the Dubai Creek, has received royal endorsement and been featured in a number of international design journals. As an active academic, Kourosh has published and presented a number talks on Urbanism and architecture globally, and is the author of the “Architectural Design Guidelines” for the Emirates of Sharjah. 

The SKYHIVE / Edition No 5 is the fifth annual architecture competition which seeks the latest and greatest concepts for an iconic high-rise structure.
