Honorable mention winners from Austria

The team is comprised of two young architects who are presently living and working in Austrias capital city Vienna. The team's formation dates back to the early university years, and since then, we have collaborated on different occasions. Throughout our professional journey, we have been involved in different projects such as: residential complexes, office structures, educational institutions, healthcare facilities and more.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been involved?

Our involvement in projects spans across all scales, ranging from modest roof extensions to sprawling healthcare facilities measuring up to 120.000 m². Our focal point is centered around working predominantly with sustainable materials, employing modular methods of construction, and designing flexible spaces.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

As Louis Kahn famously remarked, "Architecture is the thoughtful making of space." In line with this philosophy, we believe that architecture serves as a tool that shapes a universal landscape, molding all aspects of life, and pushing the boundaries of our collective perception of the world. From our perspective, the architect is the entity, which mediates between the ever-changing environment, society’s needs and the professional technical layer.

Why do you participate in architecture competitions?

Architecture competitions provide us with a unique opportunity to explore new ideas, enhance our abstract thinking, and enjoy in the purest form of creative expression what architecture embodies.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?

We deem it highly advantageous, particularly for young architects, to occasionally detach ourselves from the technicality and rigidity of daily work and allow our imagination to roam freely.
