Please tell us about your company (when it was founded, where it is based, how many employees, etc) Alternatively, if you do not have a company, please give us some insights on your own professional/academia background.

We are architecture enthusiasts interested in exploring and challenging the boundaries of architecture. Our focus lies in the connection between architecture and nature, immersive spatial experiences, creative forms of art and space, as well as sustainable urban environments and construction. Xinzi is based in the United Kingdom, and King-Yi is based in Hong Kong.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been Involved?

Xinzi is an independent architectural designer with a strong background in cultural and art-related projects, such as exhibitions, libraries, cultural centers, and performing arts centers. Xinzi has participated in international projects spanning multiple countries, including China, Mexico, and Egypt. Xinzi's designs prioritize creating rich spatial experiences while emphasizing the relationship between architecture and the environment.

With extensive experience in both architecture and interior projects, King-Yi mainly engages in projects requiring architecture-interior integration, such as mixed-use developments, residential complexes, shopping malls, retail arcades, and train stations. King-Yi’s designs are highly oriented towards users' experiences.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

Architecture is a form of art and science that shapes the physical world in which we live, work, and interact. Architects have the obligation to improve the built environment and create designs that are beneficial to everyone.

Why do you participate in architecture competitions?

We aim to push the boundaries of architectural concepts and explore various forms of architecture. Architecture competitions also help us build networks with professionals and share design ideas within the industry.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?

The decision to participate in architecture competitions should align with your individual goals, abilities, and interests. Take time to weigh the pros and cons, and remember that participating in competitions can offer valuable experiences and contribute to your growth as an architect.
