Please tell us about your company (when it was founded, where it is based, how many employees, etc) Alternatively, if you do not have a company, please give us some insights on your own professional/academia background.
We are a team of two freelance architects who have collaborated for years on architectural and interior design projects. In recent years, we have also undertaken several energy efficiency retrofits on private buildings.
Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been Involved?
Over the years, we have focused on residential projects, from single housing units to entire buildings, managing the process from preliminary design to execution and realization. We have also engaged in international collaborations, including contributing to the drafting of the Masterplan for Expo 2017 "Astana" with Nicoletti's studio.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
For us, architecture is the discipline that shapes human needs, creating spaces that inspire and improve quality of life through research, innovation, beauty, and sustainability to build a better future. The role of the architect is to combine these qualities and incorporate them into every project at any scale.
Why do you participate in architecture competitions?
We participate in architectural competitions because they provide us with the opportunity to push the boundaries of our creativity, tackle new challenges, and contribute innovative ideas. They also allow us to engage in research and development, and to measure ourselves against other firms worldwide.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?
Participating in architectural competitions is an extraordinary opportunity to test ourselves, express our creativity, and face the industry's challenges. It is a chance for professional growth and to leave a lasting mark in the world of architecture if successful. It's worth the effort to try!
