We’d like to take the opportunity to introduce you to the 3rd prize winners of our “Tiny Kiwi Meditation Cabin” competition – Lukáš Valenčin and Zuzana Capková from Slovakia!

Zuzana Capková and Lukáš Valenčin from Slovakia

We are architects from Slovakia, working for a renowned studio in Bratislava, and we came together in the studio as cooperating team members. We both studied architecture at the Slovak Technical University, and during our studies, we participated in different education programs or internships in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Poland. Since we are also a couple, we want to challenge ourselves by working on small projects which we find interesting.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been involved?

The majority of our projects are residential, and we prefer to accompany the client along the way through the design process to the final realization of their home.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

Architecture is the man-made part of the world, and we want to keep it in harmony with the historical context and nature.

Why do you participate in architecture competitions?

We want to practice beyond our limits, have fun, and tell stories by using architecture and design. Competitions open the door to new unconventional projects and possibilities.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?

It helps you to improve your professional skills.
