We’d like to take the opportunity to introduce you to one of our Honorable mention winner for our "Iceland Movie Pavilion" competition – Gabriel Martín Oliver Colell from Spain!

Honorable mention winner from Spain

Architect graduated from ULPGC since 2019, since then I have been developing in the profession both academically (Master Bim Management graduated from La Salle, Barcelona; Master ArchViz graduated from Factoria5, Madrid) working and collaborating with different architecture studios.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been involved?

I have collaborated on small-scale residential projects (new construction, reform and rehabilitation), as well as producing architectural visualization of different projects.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

Basically for me it is an exercise that allows me to develop my imagination, my capacity for design, my way of perceiving the enviroment in which I find myself and sharing it with the consumer of the space.

Why do you participate in architecture competitions?

I think that it allows myself to go a step further and get out of the profile of projects that I have usually been able to face.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?

Entering these types of contests gives you the freedom to experiment with your own ideas and designs. Althoug at first it is a hard way, my best advice is not to get discouraged in the efford.
