We are currently last year students in the University of Architecture, Civil Eng. and Geodesy, Sofia, Bulgaria. Vasil is into arts and human interactions. Stanislav is focused on digital fabrication and furniture making.
Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been involved?
Both of us have worked for small architecture studios on various small-scale housing projects. Vasil is continuing to develop in this area while Stanislav is focusing on furniture making, woodworking and concrete products.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
Architecture for us is the art of making inspiring spaces with simple materials and design principles. The architect for us is a storyteller that takes you through his mind in the form of a building/space.
Why do you participate in architecture competitions?
Architecture competitions are a way to challenge ourselves with problems that are far from our surroundings. It is a way to gather knowledge about problems all around the world, get educated about different cultures, history and ways of life. We are constantly seeking intriguing briefs from all around the world in order to further augment our academic development.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?
It is always beneficial to challenge yourselves and take a step out of the set university curriculum and zone of comfort.
