Enlai Hooi is the Head of Innovation at Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects in Copenhagen, Denmark. An architect and industrial designer with specialisation in integrating engineering fields in circular design and architecture, Enlai brings a diverse range of skills to the task of managing complex challenges in the built environment. He leads the firm’s sustainability approach and agenda on adaptive transformation, circular building methods, material health and participatory design strategies. Enlai has won numerous awards in both architecture and design. His experience in designs transgresses scales from product design through architecture to master planning, and his experience with structural environmental and mechanical engineers allows him to communicate fluently across professions.

Jett Hopp is Director of Acquisitions at Snøhetta. She has led projects including the King Abdul Aziz Center for Knowledge and Culture, Saudi Arabia and international developments with a focus on sustainability such as for the Astana Expo 2017.

Pálmar Kristmundsson is an Icelandic-based architect and founder of PK Arkitektar, 1985. Educated at the Danish State School of Architecture in Aarhus, Denmark as well as the University of Tokyo in Japan. Kristmundsson has built an exceptional career on integrating Japanese vernacular architecture with the striking effects of the unspoiled nature of his home country of Iceland. What unites his projects is a deep understanding of the importance of a place and an ability to infuse that place with meaning and quality.

Katie MacDonald is Cofounder of After Architecture and Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia. Her work explores how technology can reconcile design intention with natural materials and processes. MacDonald has been recognized as Next Progressive by Architect Magazine and Curbed Young Gun. Recent projects include installations at the Oslo Architecture Triennale and the Knoxville Museum of Art.

Christina Seilern established London-based creative practice Studio Seilern Architects in 2006. Applying her unique style across a range of building typologies, geographies and scales she re-engages in an approach that carefully addresses each project from an in-depth consideration of the detail to the overall massing strategy. She tackles a range of projects from large scale city master plans, down to the more intricate scale of furniture and light fitting design, both the emerging and developed markets.

Hjördís Sigurðardóttir is Founder and CEO of ALDIN Biodome. She is responsible for defining the company’s overall vision, concept and business development, as well as strategic planning, partnerships and goals. Hjördís has received special awards for exceptional innovation and social capacity building and was a nominee for the EUWIIN award (2017). She is a member of the EU Woman Inventors and Innovators Network.Hjördís commenced her professional life in the food industry, where she has extensive experience as quality control and production manager. She currently lectures on spatial planning at the Icelandic Agricultural University. Hjordis has a MSc degree in Landscape Architecture and Planning, from Wageningen University Holland, with a Spatial Planning Specialization, a BSc in Environmental Planning, and a BS in Food Science.

Valdis Steinarsdottir is an Icelandic entrepreneur, experimental designer, and Formex-Nova Nordic designer of the year. Her project Bioplastic Skin is a biodegradable packaging for meat made out of the skin of the animal itself - a resourceful project aiming to limit plastic waste while making use of a byproduct typically lost to meat consumption.

David Ceaser is Lead Agronomist at Agritecture, a leading advisory firm on urban and controlled environment agriculture. David advises on growing and operations activities. David has more than 15 years experience working in numerous types of agriculture, including indoor and outdoor hydroponics and soil based agriculture. David has an MBA in sustainable management, a BA in environmental studies with a focus on agroecology and a certificate in horticulture.

Oscar Rodriguez is a UK and Spain-registered Architect, founder of Building Integrated Agriculture specialist practice, Architecture & Food and Director of Policy for UK Urban Agritech, a professional body representing 50+ technology-led urban farming organisations.

 

The Iceland Greenhouse Restaurant competition is a collaboration with Vogafjós Farm Resort, located east of lake Mývatn. For this competition, participants are tasked with designing a greenhouse concept restaurant.
