Honorable mention winners from Chile

Creans Studio is an office founded by architects Nicolás Iza and Matías Griffiths in the year 2013, based in Santiago de Chile. Both are graduates of the Faculty of Architecture and Art of the Universidad del Desarrollo, a faculty of which they are now teachers. Since 2022, they have been working in partnership with the architecture firm KSM, made up of graduate students from the Faculty of Architecture and Art of the Universidad del Desarrollo.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been involved?

The studio has generated projects of different kinds operating within the fields of architecture, urban planning and design. At the same time, it has participated in both national and international competitions.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

For us, architecture offers us the possibility of developing spaces, environments and meeting places. It is something that becomes tangible, which transforms it into a powerful social tool.

Why do you participate in architecture competitions?

To explore the possibilities that architecture and urban design has applied to different contexts and realities.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?

That they dare each contest, regardless of its scale or complexity. These competitions presents various challenges that are later applicable to the professional field, in addition to promoting teamwork.
