What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

As a Visual Artist with professional training in Architecture, the practice of design meant I would have the opportunity to explore and integrate ideas about the poetry and the beauty of living, enhancing what's already there and adding something that would make it a place of interest and engagement. Being provocative and experimental is always a huge bonus.

Why do you participate in architecture competitions?

I find it a good reason to flex your mind creatively and see where you stand in relation to the collective order of things within the profession. The fixed deadline and topic forces you to operate in a way as you would with a client but with much greater freedom.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?

If you need a reason to express your self creatively and have the time for it. Why not? The fear of failure should not be a reason for not trying. You will be surprised at how much one can learn from the process itself. It really comes down to self-development.
