Urban Farming Tower Featuring Corten Steel Facade and Green Roof Systems

Project in-detail

Emphasizing a Corten steel facade and integrated vertical farming, the design establishes a self-sufficient urban environment that harmonizes residential and agricultural functions.
5 key facts about this project
01
Corten steel facade designed for enhanced durability and weathering properties.
02
Integrated vertical farming on upper levels to promote local food production.
03
Geometric hexagonal openings facilitate natural light and ventilation throughout the building.
04
Central green atrium connects all floors and serves as an indoor agriculture space.
05
Innovative vertical circulation systems enable easy access to farming areas for residents.
The architectural project **32M4+MX** is conceived as a mixed-use skyscraper that integrates residential, commercial, and agricultural spaces within an urban context. Located in the Levent district, this design aims to address the challenges of urbanization while promoting sustainable living through vertical farming. The project enhances the urban landscape while providing essential services such as food production, community engagement, and environmental sustainability.

The primary function of 32M4+MX is to create a self-sufficient ecosystem within the building, where agricultural activities coexist alongside residential and commercial uses. This multifaceted approach allows for the optimization of land use in densely populated areas. The design facilitates food production directly within the urban environment, thereby connecting the communities with the source of their food and contributing to urban food security.

Materiality and Structural Design

The architectural project emphasizes a commitment to sustainability through thoughtful material choices. Corten steel is employed in the facade design for its durability and weathering attributes. Extensive use of glass throughout the building promotes natural light influx, creating a transparent environment that fosters openness and connection to the outside.

The project employs a unique geometric facade inspired by natural leaf structures. This design not only serves an aesthetic purpose but also enhances the building's energy efficiency by optimizing light and ventilation. The vertical circulation systems are strategically placed to facilitate access to the different levels of agricultural zones while ensuring convenience for the residents and visitors.

Functional Integration of Agriculture

One of the unique aspects of 32M4+MX is its innovative integration of vertical farming technologies within the building framework. Sky farming areas are located on higher levels, enabling residents to engage in agricultural practices with ease. This feature minimizes the distance between food production and consumption, fostering a sustainable relationship within the urban community.

Además, the central green atrium serves as a crucial element in the design, connecting all floors and acting as a natural ventilation system. This atrium allows for the cultivation of various plants, enhancing indoor air quality while serving as a recreational space for residents. The design choices culminate in a structure that is not only functional but also encourages social interaction among occupants.
