The design presents a commemorative space aimed at encouraging reflection on the historical context of witch hunts. Located in an evocative setting, the space serves as an educational tool, inviting visitors to engage with themes of loss and distortion. The overall design concept centers on a sensory journey through four distinct areas, each crafted to foster emotional engagement and thoughtful consideration of complex historical narratives.

Entrance Space

Entering the space, visitors are met with a profound sense of urgency. Dim lighting creates an atmosphere that emphasizes the weight of loss, while numerous records relating to the witch hunts encourage personal connection to the past. This darkness prompts visitors to immerse themselves in the stories presented, creating an environment where history is felt rather than just observed.

Wounded Space

The second area symbolizes the wounds inflicted by the witch hunts. This space incorporates elements that evoke the feeling of burning, complemented by skylights that allow natural light to filter in, exposing the ground beneath visitors' feet. This design choice deepens the experience, enhancing the emotional confrontation with painful historical truths. The interplay of light and shadow creates a dynamic setting where clarity emerges alongside distortion.

Guiding Light Space

In the next area, a guiding line of light contrasts with distorted axes, inviting visitors to explore notions of truth and direction. This linear illumination serves as a beacon, encouraging individuals to reflect on their journey through history. The layout is designed to foster contemplation, allowing space for personal reflection while navigating the narratives of the past.

Sensory Experience

The overall design addresses contemporary challenges, especially the saturation of media and reduced sensory interactions. Monuments throughout the space encourage visitors to reconnect with nature and reconsider their relationship with the physical world. Through thoughtful integration of light, shadow, and careful spatial arrangements, a dialogue is created between past and present. This design utilizes the architectural form to engage visitors in a meaningful exploration of history.

Incorporating elements of light and dark, the design produces a distinct sense of place. The interaction of these features guides visitors while also reflecting the complexities of history. The result is an environment that unites storytelling and architectural experience, inviting deeper understanding through immersive engagement.
