The PAINT'house is a contemporary architectural project located in Latvia. The design integrates the building into the landscape near a tranquil lake while honoring remnants of previous structures at the site. This project serves as both a residence and an artistic workspace, promoting a strong connection between its occupants and the surrounding environment. By blending natural elements with modern construction methods, PAINT'house exemplifies a sustainable approach to architecture.

Unique Integration of Old and New
One of the defining features of the PAINT'house is its careful preservation and incorporation of existing foundations from former structures. The design utilizes two primary volumes, each with distinct functions, that are elevated on piles to minimize ecological disruption. The first volume, predominantly made of reclaimed wood, fosters an artistic atmosphere. Its elevation allows natural ventilation and shaded areas, meeting comfort needs for occupants engaged in creative work. The second volume, built from locally sourced stone and cross-laminated timber, functions as the workshop while creating a cohesive aesthetic throughout the structure.

Sustainability and Materiality
PAINT'house prioritizes sustainable design through its material choices and construction methods. The use of reclaimed materials not only reduces waste but also contributes to the building’s narrative by connecting the past with the present. Corten steel details are employed to enhance the building’s visual character, creating a rustic feel that complements the landscape. Expansive glass fenestrations provide ample natural light while framing views of the lake, encouraging occupants to immerse themselves in their surroundings. The architectural design reflects a harmonious balance between functionality and environmental consciousness.

For a thorough exploration of architectural plans, sections, and detailed designs, readers are encouraged to review the project presentation. This detailed examination will provide deeper insights into the architectural ideas that shaped the PAINT'house and its approach to modern living and creativity in a natural setting.
