03
Includes a centrally located artist studio to foster creativity and light access.
04
The layout maintains a direct connection between indoor spaces and nature.
05
Built on an existing footprint to minimize environmental impact.

Gleznotāju Darbnīca is located on the peaceful shores of Cernostes Lake, created as a dedicated space for painters. It emphasizes a deep connection to the natural surroundings, allowing the landscape to shape both the look and the function of the building. Key to the design is the focus on panoramic views that provide inspiration for artistic work. The layout supports both creative activities and family life, reflecting a balance between living and making art.

Site Integration

The placement of the lakehouse is intentional, enhancing the residents' interaction with the environment. The layout is designed for an easy flow between spaces, prioritizing comfort and accessibility. Central to the design is the painter's workshop, which receives ample natural light—an essential factor for creativity. By organizing the structure thoughtfully, the design creates a cohesive space for art and home.

Material Considerations

Corkboard serves as the main building material, chosen for its affordability and energy efficiency. This selection shows a commitment to sustainable practices. The use of corkboard supports the goal of minimizing environmental impact while also providing a flexible and functional space for artists.

Spatial Dynamics

Windows and corridors are placed with care to enhance the connection between indoors and outdoors. Bedrooms look out over the lake, offering tranquil views, while a corridor from the entrance leads to a large window that frames the natural landscape outside. This design invites both light and scenery into the living areas, enriching the occupants' daily experiences.

Gleznotāju Darbnīca reflects a thoughtful approach to site-sensitive design by building within an existing footprint. The combination of interior spaces, light, and views works together to create a living environment that nurtures artistic expression and family life. The design details contribute to a peaceful retreat, where everyday life and creativity naturally coexist.
