Charred Wooden Shingles and Recyclable Steel Frame Define Sustainable Modular Housing in Urban Paris

Project in-detail

Utilizing charred wooden shingles and a recyclable steel frame, this modular housing solution integrates seamlessly into the Parisian fabric while promoting sustainable living for diverse communities.
5 key facts about this project
01
Modular units are designed for easy reconfiguration to accommodate varying family sizes.
02
Charred wooden shingles provide enhanced durability and an aesthetic connection to the urban environment.
03
Cross-laminated timber panels contribute to efficient construction and sustainable material use.
04
Integrated green roofs create communal outdoor spaces while improving urban biodiversity.
05
A bent A-frame design optimizes structural integrity and promotes natural ventilation throughout the units.

The architectural project ‘Les Clip-Maison pour Paris’ focuses on developing modular housing units tailored to the urban environment of Paris. This design represents an innovative approach to addressing housing shortages in densely populated cities. The project intends to introduce sustainable living solutions while strategically integrating into existing infrastructure.

The core function of ‘Les Clip-Maison’ is to provide affordable living spaces through easily configurable modular units. Each unit offers the flexibility to adapt to various living arrangements, whether for single occupants or multiple families. The design prioritizes maximization of space and natural light, creating a comfortable living environment.

The project is characterized by a thoughtful selection of materials, including modular lightweight concrete, recyclable steel frames, glass panels, and sustainable timber. This materiality supports durability and sustainability while complementing the urban aesthetics of Paris. The use of green roof systems enhances environmental benefits and provides residents with communal outdoor spaces.

The unique aspect of ‘Les Clip-Maison’ lies in its emphasis on community engagement and adaptability. The **MyCorner** and **MySide** models differentiate the living experience by allowing personalization of layouts and finishes, which caters to diverse resident needs. This flexibility is a key strength, enabling the project to respond to specific community dynamics.

Additionally, the integration of technology within the design presents a modern approach to urban living. The envisioned use of drone systems for delivery and maintenance reflects an innovative trend in architecture that seeks efficiency and sustainability. This forward-thinking approach positions ‘Les Clip-Maison’ as a progressive solution for urban housing.

The project also explores the relationship between residential spaces and public areas. By placing modular units in underutilized urban zones, the design fosters increased interaction among residents while enhancing the social fabric of the community.
