Cascading Gardens and Charred Wood Shingles in a Dining Experience Nestled in Nature

Project in-detail

Cascading gardens interspersed with charred wood shingles create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor environments, offering a unique dining experience that emphasizes sustainability and local materials.
5 key facts about this project
01
Cascading gardens integrate plant life throughout the building, enhancing the indoor environment.
02
Charred wooden shingles provide both aesthetic appeal and increased durability.
03
Cross-laminated timber panels are utilized for structural support while promoting sustainability.
04
The bent A-frame design allows for optimal natural light and panoramic views of the landscape.
05
Multiple access points create seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor dining experiences.
The "Secret Garden" architectural project embodies a concept that integrates built environments with natural landscapes, producing an immersive dining experience. Located in an area characterized by dramatic natural beauty, the project includes a restaurant designed to evoke curiosity and a connection with the surrounding environment. The architectural design emphasizes modular volumes that are designed to facilitate interaction with the landscape while maximizing the use of natural light through extensive glazing.

Design Approach Focused on Integration

One of the defining characteristics of this project is its commitment to blending architecture with its natural surroundings. The building configuration employs angular geometries that stand in contrast to the organic forms of the landscape, yet the overall massing is deliberately orchestrated to reduce visual impact and foster harmony. Importantly, the design incorporates cascading gardens that interweave plant life throughout the structure, emphasizing the tactile relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces. The choice of locally sourced materials—such as wooden panels and reinforced concrete—further aligns the project with its site, utilizing resources available in the immediate environment.

Experiential Architectural Design

The interior layout promotes a range of spatial experiences, with a central dining area featuring a glass roof to enhance the ambient light and foster a connection to the outdoor environment. The transparent surfaces contribute to an overall sense of openness while maintaining private seating areas through strategic landscaping. The architectural design offers a variety of perspectives, allowing diners to engage with the landscape from different vantage points.

The multiple access points and transparent walkways further underscore the project’s commitment to openness and physical connectivity. Additionally, this project prioritizes functional adaptability, accommodating diverse configurations and social interactions that enhance visitor experiences and support various dining scenarios.

For those seeking detailed insights into the architectural composition, including architectural plans, architectural sections, and other architectural ideas, further exploration of the project presentation is recommended.
