A Meditative Sanctuary with Unobstructed Aegean Views

Project in-detail

Set against the Aegean Sea, the design offers meditative spaces that harness natural light while providing panoramic views, creating a tranquil home that harmonizes with the landscape's emotional significance.
5 key facts about this project
01
Aegean Sea views are maximized through strategic window placements.
02
Interiors are designed to enhance natural light throughout the day.
03
Outdoor and indoor spaces flow seamlessly, promoting cross-ventilation.
04
The layout includes dedicated areas for meditation and reflection.
05
Cultural history is integrated into the design narrative and experience.

The design on the island of Antiparos, Greece, focuses on the idea of home while connecting deeply with its surroundings. Positioned by the Aegean Sea, the project offers a refuge that weaves personal memories into the landscape. The approach emphasizes light and space, creating a thoughtful relationship between the living environment and the natural world.

Light and Space

The building is arranged to take advantage of natural light throughout the day, decreasing the need for artificial lighting. This design choice enriches the interior atmosphere and enhances the emotional experience for those who live there. Open spaces allow for easy movement between inside and outside, fostering a connection to the landscape.

Functional Layout

The layout consists of important living areas, including a master bedroom, guest rooms, and communal spaces that lead out to gardens and a swimming pool. These features are positioned to offer views of the Aegean Sea, grounding the experience in nature. The swimming pool serves as a focal point that brings together indoor and outdoor living, encouraging interaction with the environment.

Cultural Resonance

Cultural heritage is reflected in the design, adding depth to the sense of identity and belonging for the occupants. The arrangement of spaces promotes emotional well-being, creating opportunities for reflection and connection. This space becomes more than just a residence; it acts as a retreat dealing with the complexities of personal and local histories.

Dynamic Environment

Light and shadow play a big role in shaping the atmosphere inside. The design allows for variations in how light enters and moves through the spaces, enriching the overall experience. As the day progresses, the changing light brings life to the interiors, inviting engagement and contemplation. This focus on the role of light gives the design a sense of warmth and connection to its surroundings.

The end result is a space marked by comfort and tranquility, where inhabitants find solace in their environment while being rooted in a rich history.
