Honorable mention winners from Sweden
We are a team consisting of Linnea, a recently graduated architect, and Tommy, a structural engineer with architectural ambitions. Linnea has previously studied art and design, participated in several architecture competitions and interned at BIG, Bjarke Ingels Group, in Copenhagen. Her eye for design is complemented by Tommy's more technical background with a few years in building construction.
Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been involved?
We are both at the beginning of our architectural careers. The Yoga House in the Bog competition suited us well as we are both interested in yoga and meditation.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
Architecture is the craft of planning and designing the physical environment in which people's lives unfold. The architect's role is to balance practical needs, aesthetics, culture, technology and sustainability to create harmonious and useful spaces.
Why do you participate in architecture competitions?
It was an interesting and challenging exercise where we had the chance to combine our different experiences in a joint project.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture Competition?
There are tons of different competitions out there. Choose one that interests you, have fun and enjoy the process. You will gain new experiences from every competition you participate in!
