Architecture could be seen as a tool to fulfil human needs. In that, it should not be seen purely as utilitarian means to fulfil physiological needs, but also those of beauty, community, survival and advancement. The architect's task should be to understand those needs, as well as the conditions of the surroundings and context, and aim to respond to them in the best possible way.
Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?
Architecture competitions are fantastic thought exercises that help verify the understanding of the aforementioned criteria. Since they attract a lot of talent and ambition, they expand what we know about architecture and its impact.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?
