What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

To us, architecture is about connecting people to places. By contextualising culture and identity to bring people together, architecture enables them to form meaningful experiences. Using the advancements in technology and being innovative in creation, architects are continually challenging the realms of what is possible to build a better future.

Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?

Within our experiences, we found that competitions are incredibly useful creative exercises to imagine and produce a project. It also allows us to learn more about particular cultures and local materials. All in all, we believe competitions to be an opportunity to broaden our horizons as architects.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?

We would advise them that working on competitions is a team-building and thought-provoking exercise. It reminds architects the importance of working in collaboration with one another and other industry-related (and potentially un-related) companies and individuals. Each individual can add their own expertise to the project and helps craft a balanced approach to how we tell the story of the project. Competitions allow architects to push their creative boundaries while learning to manage their time effectively. We believe competitions can only be beneficial to your development as an architect (or architecture firm).
